Pteropus Guesthouse has a quiet self-contained apartment for a moderate tariff. Enjoy rich bird life and a unique flying fox experience.
The apartment is self-contained with a separate bedroom, living area, bathroom, kitchen and outdoor verandah. It has a TV, video, sound system, sheets and towels.
The bedroom has 2 single beds and a trundle bed that can be pulled out for a third person. The kitchen includes a benchtop conventional oven/grill/hotplate and a microwave. The apartment is joined to the main house by verandah. |

We are at the juncture of 3 ecotones (open eucalypt, wet sclerophyll and rainforest) and so ideally placed for birdwatching and other naturalist activities. Guests are encouraged to contribute to our local bird list. Hastie Swamp, a well-known migratory bird wetland, is only 3kms away. We have a large library of books about animals, plants and the local area that guests are welcome to browse. We are nestled in 5 acres of gardens in a quiet forest valley 6 kms outside Atherton.
Guests have a unique opportunity to experience the work of the onsite bat hospital and meet some Australian bats - up close and personal! With prior arrangement, guests may be able to assist in volunteer work associated with the onsite bat hospital. Guests are welcome to a bat hospital tour of our world class facilities, a unique opportunity to appreciate and understand the world of bats.
Stay a few days to experience the spectacular scenery and wildlife of the Atherton Tablelands - and enjoy the satisfaction of contributing to the rescue and rehabilitation of flying foxes as your accommodation fees support the bat hospital. Your host is a fifth generation north Queenslander who knows the area and its community well. She is happy to help you plan your time on the Tablelands.
